Where is Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga?
Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga stands on Mandhata island in the Narmada river in Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa district. The island is said to resemble the sacred syllable Om. The Mamaleshwar (Amaleshwar) temple on the opposite bank is also revered, and traditions differ on how the two are counted.

Tradition
The island
The temple stands on the island above the ghats of the Narmada. Many pilgrims walk the parikrama path around the island, and boat crossings are common.
Visiting
Omkareshwar is usually visited from Indore or combined with Mahakaleshwar in Ujjain. The Narmada is itself sacred, and bathing at its ghats is part of the pilgrimage for many.

Frequently asked questions
Is Mamaleshwar also a Jyotirlinga?
Traditions differ. The Stotram names 'Omkaram Amaleshwaram', and many pilgrims visit both Omkareshwar and Mamaleshwar as part of the Jyotirlinga darshan.
