The official process
The temple trust publishes a "Foreigner Ticket Booking Process". When we checked it in September 2026, it set out three steps:
- Visit the help desk. The official page lists the location as CK 37/40-41-42, near Shapuri Mall, Bashfatak (Bansphatak), Varanasi 221001.
- Verify your passport. Show your original passport to the help-desk executive and submit a photocopy of your passport and a photocopy of your visa.
- Collect the ticket. Pay the darshan ticket fee — stated as ₹600 on the page at the time — and collect your ticket. The page mentions prasadam and a ceremonial cloth.
The page states the condition simply: foreign devotees holding a valid passport can obtain a temple darshan ticket.
Practical tips
- Bring photocopies of your passport photo page and visa, as well as the originals.
- Go during office hours. The official portal lists support hours for its helplines; confirm the desk's hours before you go.
- Travel light. Phones, cameras, bags and leather items are not taken inside. Use the lockers.
- Dress modestly. Cover shoulders and knees. Traditional Indian clothing is welcome and practical.
- Keep your passport secure after verification; you may need it at the gate.
Understanding darshan
Darshan is brief, and the sanctum is busy. You will be guided through quickly. Photography is not allowed inside. Many visitors find the most meaningful part is the quieter time afterwards in the courtyards, or at the Ganga Aarti in the evening.
If you only want to see the temple from outside
The Kashi Vishwanath Dham corridor and the riverfront ghats give a strong sense of the place. Follow signs and staff instructions about which areas are open to visitors.
