Can children visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple?
Yes, children are welcome. The main challenges are crowds, queues and heat. Go early on a weekday, avoid Mondays and festival days, carry water and snacks for before and after, agree a meeting point in case you get separated, and consider the official Sugam Darshan if your children are very young.

Choosing the right time
- Early weekday mornings are usually calmest.
- Avoid Mondays, Sawan, Mahashivratri and holiday weekends. See the crowd guide.
- Avoid midday heat from April to June.
A plan for crowds
Crowds can be intense and fast-moving. Before you enter:
- Agree a meeting point outside, near the locker area, and a time to meet there.
- Write your phone number on a card or wristband for each child — you won't have your phone inside.
- Hold hands or carry small children in the queue and the sanctum.
- Point out uniformed staff and police as the people to go to if lost.
What to pack
- Water and a snack for before and after (not for inside)
- A change of clothes for small children
- Wet wipes and hand sanitiser
- Easy slip-on footwear
- A copy of each child's ID where ID is requested for a booked service

The official paid Sugam Darshan uses a separate, faster entry, which can make the visit easier with small children. Book on the official portal.

- A boat ride along the ghats (use the life jackets)
- The spacious temple on the BHU campus
- The Ganga Aarti — watching from a boat avoids the crush on the steps

Frequently asked questions
Do children need a ticket?
General darshan is free for everyone. For booked services, follow the official portal's rules on children and ID.
Are prams or strollers allowed?
The lanes and queues are not suited to prams. A baby carrier is more practical. Check with staff about the current rules.
What if my child gets lost?
Agree a meeting point in advance, and teach children to go to uniformed staff or police. Temple staff and police are present throughout the complex.
